I was asked by an outdoor education teacher at NMIT to create waterproof resource cards to support the use of te reo Māori. He wanted the cards to be small enough to fit in a pocket so they could bring them on outdoor education trips.

For this design, I put the Māori karakia on the front of the card and the English on the back, alongside illustrations that helped the students to understand what the text said. I also used bright colours so that the cards would pop and stand out. I also chose my colour palette based on earthy colours as many of the karakia were about the land.
